Applying hard coat for die steels with portable device

Hello

I am looking for a coating that can be put on cutting steel(A-2,D-2) for a stamping die to make the edge of the steel really hard. And I would like to put this coating on with something that is portable. Also this coating needs to be extremly hard.

To my knowledge, ESD (electro spark deposition) is the only portable equipment capable of doing what you want. There are at least two manufacturers, one from USA, the other japanese. You will have to resharpen since this process leaves a rather irregular surface deposit.
