Corrosive deposit on plastic of nickel plated contacts

We are using nickel plated brass terminals for our product. Some times we find corrosive deposits in powder form when ever the terminals are exposed to water/ humidity contact.

It is surprising to us that we find these deposits on the points where these brass parts meet the nylon plastic part. It is also surprising that the yellowish powedery deposit is seen even on pure plastic to plastic joint though the only contact is through the moisture between the depositing point and the brass terminal. These terminals carry ac current of a few amps.

Can you guess the reason and tell us a solution.
