Activation of Platinum-Iridium for Nickel and Gold plating

I am trying to plate platinum-iridium with Nickel and then Gold for solderability reasons. I have had trouble with adhesion and was wondering if you know of any cleaning and activation procedures that might help.

Thanks in advance,

I just tried hand soldering of small Pt-Ir(90-10) machined pieces and was able to get good wetting using Sn96Pb37 rosin core to gold on tin PCB. Are you evaluating solderability or is just getting the plating to adhere?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
