Electroplating of silver-help how do things work?

(1999)

hi! I am another student studying chemistry and doing work on electroplating of silver. I have attempted to understand the science side of electroplating and found it very difficulty to understand and would be very grateful if anyone could explain it to me in some depth. I would also like to know about the environmental impacts of electroplating. I hope I have been clear... very grateful for ANY help trang ^_^

For a very brief intro, see our FAQ: "Electroplating -- How It Works". But as a learning tool, the best webpage isn't worth much. Instead, there are excellent books describing how plating works, and I think that the Garden State Branch of AESF's "Basic Practical Electroplating" is exactly what a student needs.

Electroplating has virtually no environmental impact per se. However, the process can generate fumes, wastewater, and precipitants that do require treatment and which do have deleterious environmental impact if not properly handled.

I want to know about the best surfactant and the brightener used in silver electroplating with KAgCN in alkaline condition. Thanks
