Things are anodized by immersing them is a solution of appropriate salts and making them the parts the anode in an electrical circuit so that the conversion products forming on the surface are beneficial (corrosion resistant, insulative, aesthetic, wear resistant, etc.). Aluminum is the main metal that is anodized, but titanium, magnesium, stainless steel, zinc, and other metals can be beneficially anodized. Please see our list of reviewed books from Amazon.
