Cadmium or stainless steel bolts for stop signs

-----

2004

I am using a bolt at a salt enviorment location in signage stop signs. Which would be better to use cadmium plating bolt or stainless steel bolt?

If cadmium plating should be used at all today, Mario, it should be used only in critical applications where its unique combination of properties is needed. Bolts for stop signs should not be cadmium plated. Alternatives to stainless steel include tin-zinc plated, galvanized, mechanically zinc plated, and zinc-rich dip-spin coatings. I think I'd do with galvanized.
