Test to differntiate Anodizing vs. Chromate conversion Coating

Q. Would like to know what simple test could be applied to a part to determine whether a MIL-C-5541 Class 1A Coating was applied or if the part was anodized instead.

A. Hi, Ken. Mil-C-5541 coatings are intended to be electrically conductive whereas anodized coatings are electrically insulative. So the very easiest test is to check the resistance with a multimeter.
