Black plating on stainless steel material

Q. I would like to know the possibilities of black plating (Any type of plating) on Stainless steel.

While crimping process, plating should not peel off and withstand solt spray test for 78 hrs.

Kindly give your suggestion on the above subject.

A. Try electrophoretic paint. Its not strictly plating, but it may do the job.

Q. In addition to being Hard, Salt-spray-resistant; the plating should be CONDUCTIVE electrically. That is our additional requirement. Basic plating preferred is Cd over E'less Ni.....

A. Hi Bapat. To plate onto stainless steel you need to start with a Wood's Nickel Strike. Because of that, following up with black nickel plating might be your best approach.
