How can I brighten my cyanide zinc plating

Q. Sir, I'm doing zinc plating on mild steel wire from cyanide based chemicals, but my plating is not shiny and bluish white, I am using nitric acid 20% passivation too.

I'm doing zinc plating on mild steel wire of 1.00 mm , I am using cyanide base chemical with nitric acid 20% passivation , but wire is not shiny and white , I think I need a good brightener to dissolve in my chemical, please help me and tell me the brightener chemicals composition.

A. Mr Nadeem,

Your question is incomplete or rather we can say that it contains nothing to suggest. Provide more details analysis report of solution, current density, speed of wire , plating time, etc. Then you can find good suggestion .

Q. SIR , Hi ,

Sorry for incomplete question now I am sending you complete detail, we use 106 gram cyanide , 65 gram caustic and 42 gram zinc powder in one liter solution.our current density of plant is 100 ampere and 10 volts. My tank capacity is 700 liters solution and tank length is 36 feet and wire pass throw in 1 min and 13 second. And we passes 6 mild steel wire of 1.20 mm .we use 22% nitric acid passivation.

A. NADEEM

FOR REALLY BRIGHT PLATED WIRE OF ANY DIA USE ACID ZINC SOLUTION.

CYANIDE ZINC WILL NOT PRODUCE MUCH WIRE, IT IS SLOW, AND IT IS A POISON, WHICH MOST GOVERNMENTS HAVE BANNED.

IF YOU WANT MORE HELP WELCOME TO DELHI.

A. Hello Ahmed.....

Sorry but your question very very easy and simple. in fact, anybody want to answer like this question. Because if you inside plating sector, you must have one or some chemical supplier. I see you haven't even one supplier or your intention different. Anyway, I consider your intention's just learn something. So if you have cyanide zinc bath and if you want bright appearance, you can use POLYETHYLENIMIN DERIVATIVES SUCH AS POLYMER AMINES, ALCOHOLS, ORGANIC ACIDS SALTS, ORGANIC NITROGEN COMPOUNDS, REACTION PRODUCTS OF ORGANIC NITROGEN COMPOUNDS WITH EPICHLORHYDRIN. I hope this data is enough for you.

Good Luck.
