Q. WE HAVE A MAGNET ASSEMBLY CHASSIS MADE OF 5052-H32 ALUMINUM WHICH REQUIRES COATING PER 402200-1! WHAT IS 402200-1 AND HOW DO WE OBTAIN A COPY OF THIS SPECIFICATION?

Q. I need to put a Chemical Conversion Coating Per Spec 402200-1 on 6061 T-6 Aluminum Alloy. Need to know exactly what that is.

A. Hi. This question was never answered despite being viewed thousands of times by our readers, and I am not easily finding such a number in any major Mil, ASTM, ANSI, ISO spec. My guess is it is/was an internal spec from the company requesting the coating … although it might also be a particular (probably obsolete) chromate conversion coating trade name like an Iridite or Alodine number. Yet another possibility is a simple typo. Please tell us exactly where you found this requirement. Thanks!
