Will a lip seal run acceptably on anodized aluminum
Q. Would a conventional lip seal material, ie: buna-N nitrile, provide an acceptable sealing life running on an anodized aluminum surface? A steel surface is not feasible for this equipment.

A. You left out important information. What rotary or linear speeds and what loading. Basically, it will work, but not the best in the world. Honed hard anodize would probably work quite well. EN and hard chrome are options. Bushings might be a better answer. HDPE liners would work better than teflon in most cases.

More info re my previous question of letter 31512: This equipment is running in synthetic oil at ~4000 RPM, with an ambient temperature of 170 °F.
