Effective control of electroless nickel baths

2004

How does the controller in the Electroless Ni bath (in ENIG process) measure the Ni concentration of the bath? What is the mechanism behind that.

How is the ability of the controller to measure Ni concentration affected by the bath life? Does it get a little less accurate with an aged bath? Why. What factors affect the way the controllers measure the nickel concentration on the bath.

I hope to get answers from you friends.

Best regards.

2004

EN controllers measure the nickel concentration of a bath colorimetrically, by passing a beam of 650nm light through a sample of the solution and measuring the amount of light that is absorbed.

The controller should be calibrated daily by analyzing a sample of the bath in the laboratory and then adjusting the controller's setting accordingly. This compensates for bath age effects.
