Phosphated carbon steel - Flexibility

2004

Does anyone know if a zinc phosphated carbon steel has good flexibility? Could it tolerate a 0T bend without the zinc phosphating layer cracking? If not, are there any phosphating processes which can withstand a 0T bend.

Dear Hari G,

I would not know if an individual phosphate crystal can be bent; I presume not; but phosphated steel sheets can be "T" or "U" bent with the phosphate crystals coming off; in that sense, yes they have very good flexibility.
