Is There a "Rub-On" Brass Finish?
2004
Hello,
I have 2 brass plated antique wall sconces and over the years the brass plate has rubbed off. I would be really grateful if anyone knows of a "rub-on" brass product that I could use to restore some type of brass finish to the metal. I would rather not paint the sconces, or go to the expense of having them replated.
Many thanks in advance,

I know for only one rub on brass plating process. Immersion brass plating process also exists, but only cyanide based.
Rub on brass for zinc:
10 parts of saturated ammonium chloride solution
1 part copper carbonate
Mix ingredients and rub it on zinc or zinc plated object(well degreased and oxide free!).
Good luck!

There is a wax based compound called Rub'N'Buff [affil link], that comes in many tints, and may serve.
