How to remove aluminum oxide from an aluminum motor?

I HAVE A POWER WASHWR AND THE MOTOR IS COVERED WITH ALUMINUM OXIDE. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO REMOVE SAME?

I'd probably try an aluminum cleaning liquid from the hardware store and a wire brush. But the oxide will come right back within days unless you can paint or otherwise protect it.
