How to allow for cooling of copper in vacuum after annealing

Can anyone please let me know that how the cooling can be done in inert atmosphere( detail process) or in vacuum so as to avoid the blackening.

The only way to cool parts in vacuum is by rediation or mechanical heat transfer, both are very slow. Mechanical heat transfer requires good physical contact and water cooling of the holding fixture. The other method used post vacuum heat treating is blowing cool, neutral gas such as nitrigen, argon or helium. It becomes expensive unless you have means to recover the gases. Blackening may be the result of moisture in the neutral gas. It needs to be dried using gas dryers.

Usually nitrogen or argon (70-90 bar)is used for quenching. You need to careful with the dew point of nitrogen and argon used (-60F or better). Any presence of moisture will affect the load.
