rectifiers ripple and metal deposit characteristics

I need information on..... If and how does ripple of a rectifier affect the deposit of the metal applied. My main objective is to get feed back on the issue of hardness and corrosion of a metal deposited and how the ripple might play into it; or not play in it at all. Desperate for answers.

You'll have no trouble getting apocryphal info since almost everybody "knows" how harmful ripple is to chrome and other plating. Peeling is usually blamed on ripple, rather than hardness or corrosion problems, though.

As for hard quantitative answers, no matter how desperate you are, I don't think you'll find them. Even books like Safranek's "The Properties of Electrodeposited Metals and Alloys" ⇨
only scratch the surface of tabulating beneficial operating conditions against deposit properties; a tabulation of bad operating conditions vs. deposit properties is something I've never seen I'm afraid.
