Need to do SEM of silver plating microstructure

2004

Dear sir

I want to see microstructure of silver plating on copper by SEM , But nothing shows it. I did etch by H2O2 Please tell me how do it?

Thank you,

Hashemi

For etching silver use a mixture of cyanide and persulphate (mix 5% Potassium cyanide solution and 5% Ammonium persulphate solution 1:1 ) or a potassium-chromate solution (100 ml saturated potassium chromate -solution + 2 ml saturated sodium chloride -solution + 900 ml of Water). Be careful as both cyanide and chromate are poisonous. Polish the silver before etching and try first to use an optical microscope, I think to use a SEM is not necessary.

Good luck,

Dear Mr. Hahn,

I need SEM to compare between deposit from cyanide solution & Iodide solution.

Thank you
