World level quality norms




Q. Dear sir,

We are in line of powder coating shop for automotive industry, We want to achieve the world-class level quality. We need your help to know what is the world level norms for in process rej (PPM) for paint shop.

A. Rakesh the OEM and assembly plants are looking for 6 sigma level, which means 3.4 DPMOs (3.4 defects per million of opportunity to have a defect). Some tier 1 ask for 50 ppms for their tier 2. I hope so this help you. However is very important that you review the level of quality that your customer asks for.
