Passivation of Elgiloy

Q. I have a customer requirement to passivate Elgiloy. I am unable to find a passivation spec / standard to use for this material. Does anyone know what process should be used for passivation of elgiloy?

First of two simultaneous responses --

A. Elgiloy doesn't need passivation. Stray iron particles on the surface aren't going to disrupt the corrosion resistance as they might on a 300 series stainless steel. So the requirement is bogus. Yet on make-to-print jobs, it's often far easier and less expensive to just passivate, rather than try to convince the customer otherwise. I'd passivate per ASTM A967. Won't help, won't hurt, satisfies the requirement.

A. A web search turns up a supplier with that name. Suggest you start there.
