Surface Finishes for Poly Crystalline Woodworking Tooling

1999

Hello, my fathers company manufacture's PCD (Poly Crystalline Diamond) woodworking tooling, routers, saw blades, etc. We are looking to adding a quality finish to our tools but are not sure what process we should be looking at!

Bright Nickel plating seems to be popular and information on, or direction as to how to do this would be gratefully received.

Any other suitable surface finishes which would be suitable would be a bonus. The tools are mostly made from EN8 tool steel with silver soldered on PCD tips. Many thanks

EN8 steel will give you a good start but if you want your tools to be shiny, then you can use a buffing wheel (which 3M produces). All you have to do is to fix it to your normal grinder and touch your EN8 tool where you need a better finish. You will get it and the tools looks similar to Nickel plating. Very quick and economical.
