Amorphous silicon plating of aluminum

I am trying to learn more about "amorphous silicon" plating for aluminum. I would appreciate it if anyone could describe the basic idea of amorphous silicon and maybe a link to a good website describing it in detail. Also, a good vendor contact on the west coast would be great.
