I need help with a masking problem.

finishing.com is possible thanks to our supporting advertisers, including:

We have a simple problem...We are powder coating some threaded steel pipe. We mask the threaded ends with tape [green powder coating tape] (affil link). The tape is hard to remove and the exposed threads quickly rust! We are looking for a better way and would welcome your suggestions. Ed Smith Quality Engineer

Look into cap plugs made out of high temp material. There are numerous advertisements for them in the Metal Finishing Guidebook.
