Copper coating of plastic foils
I am looking for a contractor who could apply a 0.5-2 micron copper coating to a polyester sheet (2.5" wide, initially 3ft long). Ultimately, we would like to supply coils for coating.

klaus, could you change the foil using a.b.s material instead polyester? abs is the best material for commercial plating on plastics. danieldaniel livshitz

Klaus, What you need is a PVD web coater. Look under web coaters on the svc web site www.svc.org - Product and Services for contract web coaters. Don Mattox

Klaus: This is a standard shelf-item at the following companies, and they have it on polyimide, teflon, etc., also: Gould Electronic Materials Sheldahl 3-M Sumitomo Allied Signal Rogers Standard manufacturing practice is to prep surface(always proprietary), sputter either 150 Angstroms Chrome or Monel(63Ni/37Cu), followed by 2000-5000 Angstroms Copper by sputter, and then electrodeposit the bulk thickness. Alternatively the plastic sheet can be cast between two sheets of rolled annealed copper, etc...there are many ways.. This is a stock electronic material.

I am also looking for an economical way to apply a durable coat of copper to a plastic substrate.
This copper coated enclosure will be thermally cycled at elevated temps and will also need to be anti-microbial.
Any help as to local or international companies that do this would be very helpful.
