-----Durability of plating a brass sink
I have a handmade, hand hammered brass basin in my guest bathroom. I would like to get it metal plated a silver color, such as nickel or chrome. I would like to know if this kind of plating will last on a sink, or will it wear off too quickly to be worth the cost?

I don't know if you'll really like the look of a nickel-chrome plated hand hammered basin or not, but if plated right it will last years, maybe decades, and will age gracefully. Look at an old chrome plated brass fixture (faucet set) as an example.
