User experiences with chemical grafting?

2004

I am looking for input from anyone who has had any experience, in a manufacturing facility, with chemical grafting. I would like to know about the costs of chemical grafting VS. zinc plating & painting. What types of equipment are required to apply this coating, ie: mixers, ovens, racks, cleaning off racks, precleaning the parts to be grafted, reworking poor quality parts, etc.? If anyone has had any experience with this process, please give me some insight if you could. I am not just looking for information from a supplier, as we have that. I am looking for experience with the process.

Thank you!

Hi, Karen.

Although I don't think the term "chemical grafting" is trademarked, the technology is so strongly associated with a single company that the topic can't be discussed generically. It's not like discussing zinc plating or powder coating; rather, it becomes a discussion of one company -- and experience has repeatedly proven that we can't do that in a public forum :-(

Given the relative anonymity of the internet, shills can too easily pose as satisfied customers; the company's competitors can too easily pose as dissatisfied customers; the site's supporting advertisers have to foot the bill for publicity and testimonials for their competitors; and we can be threatened with legal action.

If you would like your e-mail address printed on this page so that people can privately contact you, let us know. Thanks!

I am also looking for someone who does this. The seller wants me to fly out there to look at the stuff (before they will sell to us) while we don't even know if it will work for us. I asked them if I could just buy it without going there and they said no. I just think it is a pretty expensive plane ride for something we don't know will work. So if anybody knows of a company using this process, please let me know.

Thank you.

Dear Thomas,

This is in response to your posting placed regarding CHEMICAL GRAFTING PRODUCT AND ITS APPLICATION. We had also contacted a company that claims to have developed this technology, but we are also in the same dilemma as yourself. Just to find out if such a product exists or its efficacy, it seems futile to undertake an expensive journey from India.

If you have come across any other information in the matter or have been able to identify a source, we would sincerely like to work jointly with you on this project, since we have a very good business potential in our region as also with our existing clientele, like STEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA, TATA MOTORS, TATA STEEL, INDIAN OIL, MARUTI MOTORS, to name a few.
looking forward to your reciprocation at an early date, we are with warm regards,
