Metal finishing Q&As since 1989

How much Zn, Ni and Cu are electroplated annually?

I am doing a research project on Electroplating and would like an answer from you. I know that the top 3 metals used for metal plating are: Zinc, Nickel and Copper, but I would like to know how many metric tons of of each metal are used in the United States each year for electroplating?

Try contacting the Zinc Development Association (ZDA), Copper Development Association (CDA) and Nickel Development Institute (NiDI). They should be able to give you the most accurate and up to date data.

Hi Kourtney. Another possible source is the National Association of Surface Finishishers (www.nasf.org). Good luck.
