What things can be chromed?

I am interested in haveing an iron table with a grid-like top chromed. Is this possible? What kinds of metals/objects can be chromed? Thanks, r

Anything at all can be chromed, Ms. Frost. The principal issue is economics; it is quite labor intensive to do nickel-chrome plating on a one-of-a-kind basis. If you were thinking $25, forget it. Depending on what the substrate actually is, the size of the table, how complex it is to jig, etc., you might find a shop to do it for $100 but it could easily be $400 too, and it's not inconceivable that it could be more than that.

Sorry that it's hard to help, but plating is something that can be done very inexpensively on high production items, but which gets pricey because of custom labor when one-of-a-kind items are to be plated. If you are serious though, plating shops can quote you.
