-----Finding out the weight of US coins
My son and I were wondering where we could get a scale that could measure the weight of a penny, be it tarnished or not. Are post offices equipped with the scales needed to measure the weight of a penny, nickel, quarter, half dollar, Anthony dollar, gold dollar and an Eisenhower dollar? How about a jewelry store? Thank you for your time.

If you are looking for the 'average' weight, Chris, take a number of coins and put them on a cheap postal scale you may have on hand, and divide by the number of coins. If you are looking for the weight of a single individual coin, you would need a more capable scale, but electronic ones are available for about $10 these days if postal clerks and jewelers are too busy to help. For super precision, your local high school may have an 'analytical balance' in the chemistry lab if you can get access to it. This encloses the pans and mechanism so they are not even subject to air currents. Good luck.
