ACID GOLD PROPERTIES

Can anyone share any information that they may have about the magnetic characteristics of a Cobalt and/or NIckel hardened acid gold?

Lou Smith

I've never heard of cobalt or nickel hardened gold having any magnetic properties. The percentages are so low that I wouldn'e expect any, but then I've never tested for that.

More likely is that the undercoat is nickel and is magnetic. Literature from vendors states that mid to low phos electroless nickel can be made magnetic. The only magnetism-free nickel is high phos electroless.
