-----Medical equipment supplier needs to know if aluminum has a smell
Q. Does the element aluminum have an odor? If so, what does it smell like? Do you know of an internet site that will give the atomic spectra or current cost of aluminum? If so, what is the name of the internet site?

A. Hannah, aluminum metal is odorless. If it's been coated with something, that might smell, but aluminum alloys themselves are free of any odor. A call to the chemistry dept. at UT Tyler would likely confirm this. Good places to look for aluminum properties and info include webelements and efunda. If you want prices, you can find lots of real ones on the more common alloys at the McMaster-Carr website. Just type "aluminum" in the search box and you'll get a lot of info on the alloys as well.
