NH35 is a type of chromate conversion coating used for magnesium die castings. It was developed by Norsk Hydro as a pretreatment for subsequent painting. It provides for better adhesion, as well as enhanced corrosion resistance. None of the chrome-free pretreatments (Alodine 5200, etc.) have been able to meet the same corrosion performance that NH35 provides.
