Electroless nickel or hard chrome plating for guns

I currently blue guns quite often, I am interested in electroless nickel finishing and/or hard chrome finishing. Any information regarding the process or requirements would be appreciated.

Hi, Pete.

Electroless nickel plating or chrome plating represent a significant step upwards in terms of process complexity, so it's not possible to cover all of the issues in one brief response. However . . .

The process will involve the need for a high degree of alkaline cleaning, then acid activation, then the plating step;

There will now be metals in your effluent, and you will require a discharge permit;

Chrome plating solutions are carcinogenic, electroless nickel solutions are very hot -- so in either case you will require an exhaust ventilation system. Best of luck.
