High voltage electropolishing process

Whether are known to You a method and solutions for polishing various metals and alloys? In difference from a method of electrochemical polishing this process can take place at voltage, more than 200 v. Between a surface of an item, which is immersed in a solution, and the electrolyte forms an interval consisting of a vapour. In this interval there are electrical discharges. Under operation of discharges and active ions there is polishing a surface.

As electrolytes use water solutions of salts at concentration from 1 up to 5 %%.Value pH from 5 up to 8. The metal, which is remote from a surface, is transformed into a hydrooxide both is besieged and can be separated very simply. There are no dangerous and harmful scraps in atmosphere and system of the water drain. High efficiency of process.

Disadvantages. Higher consumption of electrical energy in comparison with conventional electrochemical polishing.
