Nickel plating and Zinc plating help and services needed

2003

Hello... I have just started having some of my own furniture designs built. Many of the pieces include and will include metal work...custom fixtures and pieces made out of steel. Anyway, what is the difference between having steel nickel plated and zinc plated?

I'm in New York and I'm looking for a good place to send pieces to be plated.

Thank you...

The short answer is nickel is more expensive and will last longer. Zinc is cheaper and will tarnish much more readily.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
