Small game developer finishing chess pieces

I am making a board game. The pieces are somewhat like chess pieces ( 1.5" h x .75" w x .75"d). I had them machined out of steel and brass ( 2 player game--pieces come in 2 colors). They look great, however, I understand that they will rust and stain. I am interested in finding a finish that will look close to what I've already got, but will not stain. I have also considered making the "steel" pieces natural aluminum and anodizing the "brass" pieces. I'm looking at runs of 250 pieces at a time to start.

Hi Nate. It obviously depends on what look and feel you wish to get, but a simple approach would be to make all of the pieces out of aluminum, then clear anodize one set, and anodize and dye the other. Good luck.
