-----Acid etching aluminum, twice
We acid etch aluminum diesel fuel tanks. After etching the scratches show up. We sand off with increasingly finer sandpaper to remove the flaws but cannot get the repaired area to match the original acid etched areas. Any ideas on how to do this?

You may want to try heavy caustic etch to attain a matte finish. This etching however will take a few microns from the surface.
