Hard Anodising on Al 6061

What is the range of Hardness a Hard anodised aluminum can offer? In what tolerance the dimensions after hard anodising can be controlled? If we require a tolerance of ±0.002 mm, will it require post grinding operation? What are the production friendly techniques to mask portion of substrate during hard anodising?

Hard anodising can be controlled to the accuracy of about 10 microns.Usually this is done with a sample panel working along with the components and checking the thickness time to time

One of the easiest is to chromic anodise the portion which require masking for hard anodising. This need some experience.

proprietary stop off lacquer can also be used as masking for hard anodising.
