Zinc phosphate vs. gilded surface

We have to re-gild an outdoor sculpture. What about the adhesion (bonding) of zinc phosphate primer ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] on a gilded (gold leaves) surface? Jerome R. Morissette

Zinc phosphating is not suitable for gold surfaces. It will have poor adhesion.It is only suitable for iron surfaces.
