Electropolishing platinum-iridium alloys

I am interested in learning how to electropolish platinum-iridium alloys (Pt - Ir). I would appreciate any suggestions on what electrolyte, voltages, current densities, and cathode material to use for my project. Is a pretreatment required prior to electropolishing?

Dear Jim, This question has been asked before on this website. I don't know of any electropolishing methods currently used for platinum or platinum alloys. For a large amount of information on working with platinum, you may want to check the Platinum Guilds technical website www.pgi-platinum-tech.com . Good luck,

Hi Jim,

I'm looking for an EP process (for PtIr 80/20), Do you already find a proper solution?

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
