Powder Coating the inside of a steel pipeline

We would appreciate information on what is required as far special tools and process are concerned to alter a standard powder coating operation to one that can do internal coating of 1 - 3 meter pipes, 80 - 600 nb, All steel. We also need to know the specification for preparing a pipe for this internal coat.

Our application is mainly on sewage and water works.

Hi, Chris. Thermoset powders are usually applied by electrostatic spray, thermoplastic powders are usually applied by immersion in a fluidized bed. We would need to know what kind of powder you want to apply, and whether you also coat the outside of the pipe. The pretreatment would probably by phosphatization, either iron phosphate (cheaper) or zinc phosphate (premium). You might also consider a prime coat applied via electrocoating. Good luck.
