Antique brass finish

I would like to obtain an antique brass finish on a metal headboard to match the drawer hardware on my dresser. I am planning on using a primer first, but what is the best method for obtaining the antique finish after I do that?

A real antique finish on metal would be applied on bare metal, not primed metal. What you are talking about is a paint that simulates old brass. Rustoleum and Krylon and others offer this in spray cans at your hardware store.
