6061 Aluminum Extrusion Corrosion protection

What kind of corrosion protection (salt spray) would you recommend for extruded 6061-T6 Aluminum being used a heatsink material? This heatsink/electronic equipment is installed in a 316 stainless steel enclosure but the heatsink fins protrude through the cabinet and are exposed to the elements. This equipment is being installed in coastal areas. Chromate is not an option.

Type II or III anodize with a nickel (or similar) seal.

All of our customers who send their heat sinks to us always specify anodized coat in black. The coating is best for heat dissipation purposes.

Also, because you won't get a good black without about .0005" of anodizing thickness, specifying black is a good Q.A. measure to insure corrosion resistance :-)
