Replacement of hexavalent chromium on zamak

I am working on the replacement for hexavalent chromium on zamak. Actually, the process is a zinc plating and passivation. I am looking for new technologies (other process than trivalent chromium). Do you know new technologies?

Sincerely,

Mr Gurvan Loubes

Dear Mr Gurvan Loubes

There are many organizations and research centers that work on chromium replacement.I can refer you to some of EPA and SERDP and METCO projects and Automotive Finishing's papers (an online journal) on this subject, but my experience in this regard is that the most applicable processes may list as follows:

*HVOF(e.g., with WC-Co coating materials)
*Composite electroplating such as Ni-W-B and Ni-W-SiC
*nickel electroless plating
*plasma Nitrocarburizing with post oxidation

best regards
