-----Alkaline runoff stripping anodized finishes
Why does Alkaline runoff produced from new concrete strip the anodized coating off of aluminum? We are using 6063-T6 aluminum with a 210-R1 .0002 mill coating. Is washing the runoff off the aluminum the only method of prevention?

Anodized coatings are aluminum oxide, which is soluble in alkali. Keeping the run off away is better than washing it off, but yes, the runoff will definitely attack the anodized coating.
