Has The Formula For W3700 Optical Paint Changed

Q. Dear Eastern Chem-Lac Optical Paint # W3700 Users:

We use this formulation of the optical paint in our instruments. During the last 6 month usage, we are experiencing some outgassing which is degrading the performance of the instruments. My question is: Has the formulation been changed recently to lead?

A. Dennis Chan,

W3700 formula has not changed nor does it contain any lead. Generally when outgassing is encountered it is due to an under-cured paint film. This may be due to incorrect oven settings and/or not enough time in the oven to ensure a complete cure.

W3700 requires a cure process of 30 minutes (minimum) @ 325 °F (minimum). Note, this is substrate temperature and dwell time. Check oven temperatures and times to ensure that the parts are reaching the proper temperatures prior to beginning the 30 minutes. When baking many parts, baking times may have to be extended in order to achieve proper cure temperatures.

RFQ: We have been asked to paint a new product using "Eastern Chemlac X2569" supplier Croft Corp. If anyone can help me find either the manufacturer or supplier for this paint that would be really helpful!
