How to preserve the shine on copper

Q. I have a desktop made of copper. Although beautiful, it is becoming quite cumbersome to keep up on the polished finish. Is there a way that I can lacquer it or put some kind of finish on it, anything to keep from have to shine it twice a week. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

A. I have been told to clean the copper with Brasso [on eBay or Amazon] then take a lacquer thinner [on eBay or Amazon] and a clean handkerchief and wipe that real clean until nothing comes off on the cloth then apply a product called Incralac [on eBay or Amazon] -- either spray or apply with a foam brush..It dries in 15 minutes then apply second coat. After a few months apply a car wax [on eBay or Amazon] ! Good luck
