What material will not diffuse with titanium at 1600 deg. F. ?
Does anyone know a suitable metal or material that does not diffuse or alloy with titanium alloy (Ti6V4Al) during heat treatment above 1600 F in air? The purpose is to prevent oxidation.

A thin layer of silicon might work. It will form a silicide layer on the titanium and the surface of the silicide will oxidize to SiO2 to give a protective layer. This approach is used on molybdenum heater elements for air furnaces.
