"Maintaining a shiny brass condition in an adverse environment"

-----

2003

Removed the tarnished & pitted brass rub rail from an old sailboat I am restoring. Spent many hours bringing the brass to a highly polished almost mirror like state. I would like to maintain this appearance without having to use a polishing agent when the brass is remounted to the teak base and the boat is moored in the sound (salt water).A fellow at work mentioned a clear spray.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Yes, you are looking for a brass lacquer. For large quantities, specialists like G.J. Nikolas [a finishing.com supporting advertiser] can certainly help. For single spray cans you can try Brass Lacquer [affil link].
