-----Restoring chrome finish
I splashed diluted muriatic acid on newly installed chrome shower faucet while cleaning tile grout and the chrome turned black. Is there a way to repair the finish?

Unfortunately for you, decorative chrome is very thin and muriatic acid ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] is an excellent solvent of chrome. Two choices, look at the ugly reminder of your boo-boo or replace it which is much cheaper than replating it.
